Compare Fairhope to any city
Sperling’s Best Places is a very cool website.
Use it to compare cost of living, real estate, climate, schools, crime, etc. for any city vs. Fairhope, AL.
In some cases, the statistics are quite surprising. In almost all cases, it explains why Fairhope, ALA is one of the Best Places to live!
In fact, you can use it to compare any two cities!!! Compare Fairhope, AL to Mobile, AL.
Grand Hotel Invaded…
The Grand Hotel at Point Clear, AL is being invaded by packs of ravaging butterflies! The marauding Monarchs are attacking flowers, shrubs, and even Spanish Moss with a vengeance, fueling up for their annual across-the-gulf race to mainland Mexico for the winter season.
One brave local citizen managed to get a few close-ups of the situation. Thanks to Susan Stein for her quick eye and camera.
Details of the migration were cited in the Baldwin Register today. Click Wings of Wonder for the short article. Our photo is better!

Wolff Cottage – Writer’s Residence

I have to admit I don’t know how the Fairhope “writer-in-residence” gets picked, but someone does, in fact I expect the Fairhope Center for Writing Arts, Inc. knows!
We have had visiting writers from time to time, who use the cottage while they explore the area, write, and interact with the community.
Please comment if you know the whole story!

Fairhope Farmer’s Market Concludes
The Fairhope Farmer’s Market has concluded for the summer. It enjoyed continued success this year with the move in location to the vacant lot behind the Fairhope Public Library. There were more vendors and more customers this year. Sometimes it was difficult to find a parking space within two blocks!
We purchased local honey, home-made breads, flowers, herbs, tomatoes, sqaush, corn, melons and more. There was something new every week! Don’t miss the Farmer’s Market when it re-opens. Â We’ll announce the date on BeautifulFairhope.com as soon when we find out. Â Our thanks go out to the City of Fairhope Special Events department and the volunteers and participants for bringing the market downtown.
Tie-dyes at Windmill!
The blog  Wild Dyes (what a great name!) recently wrote a nice blog post that mentioned Fairhope, the Windmill Market and Beautiful Fairhope.
Wild Eyes owners, Kris & Dave Ogden, create wonderful tie-dyed T-shirts and other items. They will have their unique creations at the Windmill Market on the last Saturday of each month. Â See their website.
